My fourth image is titled ?I read High Fidelity before it was cool?; originally this was proposed as a still-life in Starbucks, but I decided to do it at home with some ?Hipster cliché? props.
I shot this under natural lighting – hence the long exposure for the narrow aperture to maximise depth-of-field and low ISO (to minimise noise) in what was a bit of a shaded area of my living room; basically avoiding any harsh shadows while not using artificial lights.
I did two versions of this, one with a Kindle with High Fidelity not it and one with the book. After a bit of canvassing on Facebook I decided the book was more ?Hipster? than the Kindle, as a Hipster might think it?s ?retro?.
I tried to make it look reasonably ?natural?, though it is obviously still posed. I?m not sure whether that makes it less pure ?straight photography?, but ultimately I am pleased with the results.
I did very little to this other than a bit of lightning of shadows and sharpening.
